This article focuses on acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) and multiple sclerosis (MS), two autoimmune disorders affecting the central nervous system (CNS). Acute transverse myelitis (ATM) and optic neuritis (ON) are touched on briefly, as they frequently are manifestations of ADEM and MS.
