摘要：
In this paper it is argued: (1) that the First Catilinarian Conspiracy of 66-65 BC, described by Sallust at BC 18-19, is not `fiction' (as is almost universally assumed); and (2) that the revolutionary plans ascribed by Sallust to Catiline in 64 BC (BC 17, 20-3) have not been retrojected from the following year (as is also almost universally assumed).
