A Dual-band Left-handed Metamaterial Composed of Double E-shaped Intersections in 3D Periodic Arrangement

摘要
A double E-shaped intersection is proposed for the realization of left-handed metamaterials in microwave frequency dual-bands. In the design based on FR4, periodic E-shaped structure is introduced on both opposite sides of the substrate respectively to yield a simultaneously negative permittivity and permeability. Additionally, two inner rods and the edges of the E-shaped intersection can be adjusted not only for the ruling of magnetic resonance level, but also for the tuning of resonant frequency. The left-handed properties of the designed metamaterial over double bands from 0 to 20 GHz have been proved using both theoretical and numerical analysis.
