Perception of Active Participation of Young People in Public Affairs Using the Point of View of Public Administration Students

The paper addresses the ever-increasing need for active participation of young people in public affairs. At present, it is important to encourage not only the theoretical knowledge of youth about their civic duties but also the active involvement of their opinions, views and solutions. Despite the slight progress in this area, it is still impossible to talk about building a political culture in Slovakia that would directly engage and take into account the opinion of youth in decision-making processes. However, there are many initiatives and young people who develop beneficial activities in their free time. The aim of the paper is to conduct a survey on the involvement of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences at UCM, Slovakia in the field of public administration in public affairs. It is precisely this group of students that we consider to be key to the issue, as they have sufficient theoretical basis and motivation to engage in public life. The survey was done in the form of questionnaire research combined with an overview of some existing examples of good practice of youth engagement in Slovakia.
