3D cellular detonation in cylindrical channels

摘要
The process of spontaneous formation of the 3D detonation structure observed in experiments and its propagation in the channels of square, rectangular, round, and elliptic cross sections was simulated. The process of spontaneous increase in small perturbations and the transformation of the 1D flow into the flow were investigated with the substantially 3D detonation structure, which is called cellular by analogy to the 2D case. The numerical modeling is carried out on the basis of the set of Euler equations for an ideal multicomponent reacting mixture in a motionless Cartesian system of coordinates The numerical investigation is carried out by the modified Godunov method of the 1st order of accuracy in space and time The observed irregular chaotic 3D structure is related to the detonation instability and to the propagation of transverse waves behind the head front in arbitrary directions perpendicular to the front normal.
