Defects of theoretical systems in traditional Chinese medicine and way to modernization

Defects of the theoretical systems in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) include unclear explanation for the inclusion and extension of some basic definitions, generalization of functions of the whole body and absence of understanding of substantial basis, which are reasons for stagnation of recognition of diseases and anatomical development. It is the developing direction that foundation of TCM should be understood with modern thoughts. TCM is considered as state medicine and diseases are understood from different aspects in TCM and modern western medicine. It is impractical to standardize Chinese medicine with theories and research methods of western medicine, which will result in the condition that TCM loses its own characteristics. Modernization of foundation of Chinese medicine is the only way of modernizing Chinese medicine.
