摘要：
The concept of "sustainable growth" is described from the viewpoint of the DuPont Company. Heuristics for estimating waste treatment costs and for solvent selection are reviewed, and open questions are identified. Sustainable products should be examined by Life Cycle Analysis, and the results of such an analysis for Nylon 66 in an automobile application are presented. Future information and modeling needs for developing greener processes are identified and discussed.
