摘要
Objective: To assess the impact (through measurements of adiposity and physical fitness) of a 6-months nutrition education and physical activity intervention on primary school children, according to grade level and gender. Design: Longitudinal school-based controlled evaluation study. Subjects: Children from 1st to 8th grade, 2141 in intervention and 945 in control schools. Intervention: Nutrition education for children and parents, "healthier" kiosks, 90 minutes of additional physical activity (PA) weekly, behavioural PA program and active recess. Measurements: Adiposity and physical fitness indices (BMI Z score and 20m Shuttle Run Test) respectively. Results: A significant positive effect was observed for BMI Z in boys from 1st to 6th grade and in girls from 3rd to 6th grade (p < 0.05), while in the 20m Shuttle Run Test, the effect was significant in all children (p < 0.0001). Conclusions: This intervention showed a much stronger effect on physical fitness. A decreased adiposity was observed among younger boys and girls only from 3rd to 6th grade.
