The Sao Paulo University score table management: a new approach for allergic rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis is a well-known disease, and a problem to all otolaryngologists. It is still present, despite all our efforts against it. We have difficulty to treat adequately patients with rhinitis. Sometimes we cannot measure the patients' improvements. We developed, in the Sao Paulo University Hospital, a division in groups of treatment, for the table of scores modified from Metzel. Regarding both signs and symptoms, we divided the scores we obtained into 4 groups. A specific treatment was associated to each group, and then analysed. The signs we observed had significant correlation between the patients' symptoms, proving the reliability of our evaluation. Through this table of scores and the groups, we are able to see if we are treating correctly our patients, and objectively measure their improvement.
