摘要
The writer has studied workforce and labor market changes in the State of Wisconsin and the U.S, for more than 30 years. Analysis of projections of numbers of jobs by job title and income trends to the year 2005 in Wisconsin and the U.S. indicate that the great numbers of high-tech, high skill and high pay "jobs of the future" are a hoax. Vocational Education in Wisconsin and the U.S. has had success. Schools have continued to change their curriculums and instructional methodologies and have now incorporated the new computer based technology. Education in the 1990's is still blamed for our economic and social problems and education reform is said to be the panacea for our social and economic problems. In the 1990's, Youth Apprenticeship is an insignificant and extremely costly spoof, Tech-Prep is wasteful hyperbole, School-toWork is a new name for activities that schools have been doing forever, except in the 1990's millions are being wasted on useless hype and standards.
