摘要
The Z-source solid-state circuit breaker, specially designed for DC power systems, was introduced for having the quick and automatic response to fault. Two modified Z-source breaker designs have been proposed to operate at medium voltage DC. Compared to the existing Z-source breakers, the proposed designs will mitigate the excessive spike current problem during thyristor switching and limit the fault current reflection to the DC load side. One of the topologies will also provide a scope for reducing the breaker component size to get a significant improvement in fault clearing time.
