Performance of the liquid xenon gamma ray detector used for the study of the π→μνγ decay

摘要
A liquid xenon ionization chamber has been operated for the detection and measurement of the low-energy gamma-rays from the decay pi --> mu nu gamma. We report on the liquid xenon purity and stability and on the detector performances. The calorimeter exploited the scintillation light for the trigger and the ionization charge for the energy measurement. The detector has been calibrated with radioactive sources and its performances have been compared to a Monte Carlo simulation.
