New geologic mapping has documented the nearly E-W-trending igneous contact between two large leucocratic plutons in the White-Inyo Range of easternmost California. The megacrystic Cottonwood Granite (similar to 170 Ma) on the north and its apophyses intrude the slightly older, medium-grained, grey Beer Creek Granodiorite on the south. Construction of this portion of the Andean calc-alkaline are evidently was well under way by mid-Jurassic time.
