摘要
Although religious professionals and religious institutions of many varieties are common and frequently visible in most communities in the United States, too often they are overlooked when clinicians identify resources for children, adolescents, and families in their care. This article reviews the backgrounds, training, and experience of religious professionals and the specific contributions they may make to the lives of patients. Similarly, the services of religious institutions may benefit children and families greatly. Several types of religious organizations are discussed, with illustrations of how they may be helpful to youth. Suggestions are offered for working effectively with religious professionals and institutions in the best interests of children, adolescents, and families.
