Advanced miniature optical terminal family for inter-satellite links in space communication networks

摘要
The present paper focuses on satellite networks which use small range intersatellite links. Both, LEO networks are discussed, like IRIDIUM, M-STAR, CELESTRI-LEO or TELEDESIC, and satellite clusters at one CEO position, like SPACEWAY. Miniaturized optical terminals comply with all requirements for high bandwidth ISL of such networks. The paper highlights common aspects of all LEO networks. Dynamic pointing requirements in LEO networks are discussed. An advanced, miniaturized optical terminal is presented, including basic design features such as mass, power and transmission capacity.
