Foundation design formulation: a process approach

摘要
This paper reports on the development of a system that uses a new approach in the decision on the selection of a foundation system. The new approach allows the geotechnical engineer to incorporate nontechnical aspects in the decision-making process. The paper describes the structure of the decision system designed for this purpose to support with the selection procedure. A simple application example has been used to demonstrate the basis of the new approach and discussion and conclusion on this application are also included.
