Urban and industrial tourism in the "post-industrial" periphery: Imaginaries and narratives of the inhabitants of the Left Bank of the river Nervion in metropolitan Bilbao

In "post-industrial" regions tourism has a key role in the contemporary entrepreneurial modes of urban governance and revitalization based, basically, on leisure and consumption. Approaching space as a social product from the "ways of doing" of its inhabitants, it is addressed the question of how people relate - by assimilating, (re) meaning, resisting and/or questioning - with emerging and potential tourist flows that go through it. The analysis of the imaginaries and narratives of the inhabitants of the Left Bank of the Nervion river in metropolitan Bilbao - Basque Country, Spain-around existing urban tourism and potential industrial heritage tourism, brings us closer to the paradoxes and difficulties of this "post-industrial" periphery.
