摘要
Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite is widely used in aerospace as well as automotive industries because of its significance advantages of higher strength and lighter weight. Drilling process on FRP composites and its consequences are playing a role in quality. The major issue with FRP composite drilling is delamination which leads to delamination error. One of the methods to reduce the delamination error is usage of optimum drill tool. In this paper, a review work is conducted to minimize the delamination error by using adequate drill tool selection. Various drill tools are attempted by researchers such as twist drill, core saw drill, step drill, candle stick and dagger drills. These tools are playing an important role in reduction of delamination error by controlling thrust force and matrix strength. The result observed that commonly used twist drill is subjected to bending deformation and exceed inter laminar bonding leads to delamination error. Delamination error with different drill tool is also noticed. It is understood that delamination error control with optimum selection of drill tool as well as optimum process parameters. This review work is focused about reduction of delamination error using special type of drill tools compared with conventional drill. Copyright (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
