Innovating Sign Selection for Face Identification using DCT Sign

A modified sign selection approach for face identification is developed and tested. The signs of DCT coefficients with high amplitude include the important information of face, and can be used for face identification. In previous work, such signs were just selected in a large order of amplitude, and experiment shows a good result. However, it is found that the sign selection method of previous one is not a novel way in recently research, thus a modified approach is proposed here. Furthermore, the purposed method keeps the good characteristic as previous one: low calculation, little memory requirement, and no retraining problem.
