ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION IN ENGINEERING STUDENTS: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Engineering education has shown a marked tendency to interdisciplinary as a mechanism to address problems from a dynamic and interactive perspective, offering engineering students a practical environment where they face real problems of the corporate sector, allowing new engineers to develop their business creation spirit. This paper explores the entrepreneurial education in engineering students from a bibliometric analysis, allowing understanding the state of the research activity in this field of knowledge. The methodology consisted in obtaining information (database and search equation), analyzing 272 documents from the database Scopus. From this, bibliometric indicators were obtained (quantity, quality and structure), incorporating the study of the topological structure of networks of authors in order to analyze the evolution between 1983 and 2014. The results show that from 2005 exponential growth curve is observed in the publications related to the theme. Faced with leading research institutions they are: Purdue University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Pittsburgh and Stanford University. Furthermore, journals with a most impact in the citation were: Technovation, Journal of Engineering Education, European Journal of Engineering Education and Journal of Business Venturing.
