Under the background of new era, ecological tourism concluding social benefit, economic benefit, and ecological benefit is widely concerned. With the Huangshi City of Hubei Province as the research object, which is a typical resource-rich city in central China, this paper analyzes dialectically the present situation and the existing problem of tourism in Huangshi using economic externality theory, indicates the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of developing ecological tourism in Huangshi by use of the SWOT analysis, and then, pertinently puts forward the development strategy of ecological tourism in Huangshi, in order to make full use of the tourism resources and promote the sustainable development of Huangshi tourism.
