摘要：

The main goals of the paper are to estimate both the technical efficiency in Spanish credit cooperatives during the period 2005-2013 and its main determinants, with a special emphasis on the possible impact of the crisis. Our findings show that the efficiency of these entities decreases during the years 2008-2010 in comparison with the period previous to the crisis (2005-2007), although it recovers again in the second recession (2011-2013). In addition, while the size, the urban concentration and the financial risk of credit unions have a positive influence on their technical efficiency, the crisis situation has a negative effect. Finally, their regional location is also a significant determinant.
