Physical and chemical properties of alpha-LiIO3 single crystal grown in space

摘要
alpha-LiIO3 single crystals were successfully grown in aqueous solution with the pH value from 3.6 to 12 by Chinese scientific recoverable-satellites. The experimental results show that the content of beta-LiIO3 crystal in the polycrystals grown spontaneously in space is less than that on the earth. The dielectric property of alpha-LiIO3 is a function of the gravity, pH value of the solution, the voltage and frequency of the applied field. The dielectric constant epsilon(space) > epsilon(earth). The distribution of impurities in space-crystal is more homogeneous than that in the earth-crystal. Moreover, the content of Ti in the space crystals grown in neutral and/or alkaline solution is lower than that in the earth-crystals. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd
