Inelastic ferroelastic behavior of LaCoO3 based ceramics under contact loading

摘要
The behavior of LaCoO3 based ceramics under contact loading has been investigated. Three compositions have been chosen for investigation: pure LaCoO3 , La0.8Sr0.2CoO3 and La0.8Ca0.2CoO3 . Pure LaCoO3 perovskite shows an enhanced elasticity compared to the Sr and Ca doped materials under contact loading with a conical indenter. At a low 0.3 N load porous LaCoO3 exhibits purely elastic behavior, while Sr and Ca doped perovskites exhibit some amount of plastic deformation. Under certain conditions a ferroelastic hysteresis loop was obtained for Ca substituted perovskite. Possible explanations for both inelastic and ferroelastic behavior are discussed.
