摘要
This article provides a historical analysis of the incorporation experiences of the members of African American faculty at University of Missouri's Columbia campus. This article demonstrates how such individual factors as the scholarly reputation of African American faculty, coupled with departmental commitment, can go a long way to foster incorporation within university and college settings. At the same time, this article also demonstrates how ambivalence and limited commitments, on the part of university administrators, maintain the status quo of exclusion and nonincorporation.
