STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF CZECH SMEs AND THEIR ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE

摘要
The paper focuses on identification of correlations between the level of implementation of principal tools of strategic management and reached economic result of the businesses based on a sample of 160 respondents - managers/owners of Czech SMEs. The data originate in a survey done by the STEM/MARK agency for MENDELU within the below-mentioned project. The research was anonymously done among over 300 Czech SMEs, but respondents from 183 businesses provided also their identification details, which made it possible to connect the opinions on implementation of strategic management and economic performance of the businesses. The most interesting findings include strong attention being paid to strategic issues, relatively stronger attention being paid to these issues by female respondents (the biggest - 10% - difference identified in communication of objectives), decreasing focus on internal communication with growing number of employees (correlation coefficient of 0.31), and higher sales of the companies monitoring actions of the competitors (0.26).
