摘要：
Attention is drawn to three recent papers stating that natural selection has been ignored in the development of quantitative genetics, and adding the theory necessary for quantitative genetics to account for it. When natural selection on fitness is included in the theory, it becomes clear that adapted animals are limited by their environment. The consequences for animal breeding are discussed, particularly for conditions on pastures where further environmental improvement is uneconomic.
