摘要
Currently the youth population faces a set of problems that limit their welfare among them one of the most important is unemployment and related consequences. It is also necessary to discuss the role of universities and their contribution to a society that demands greater involvement in economic and social development. The objective of the present research is to identify the impact of university activities on the entrepreneurship of young people and on the employment levels of this population. An option to face the current labor market crisis has been found in the enterprise which has had a greater influence on young people with university studies. Consistent with the results of the research, it is the people with the highest education, higher income and younger people who are in a better position to start a business, either because they are more receptive to market opportunities or because they have more training and resources to materialize them. Entrepreneurship rates in Mexico have doubled in recent years in all age groups. The rate of Total Early-Stage Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) was doubled for each rank; the largest increase was for the group of 25 to 34, whose rate went from 11% to 27% in the period 2011-2015. Similarly, the research results showed that in relation to entrepreneurship, the gap between men and women in Mexico increased: 23% of men and 19% of women had an early entrepreneurial activity (GEM, 2015). As far as education is concerned, it can be seen that the higher the level of schooling, the higher the rates of entrepreneurship; 35% of entrepreneurs have completed upper secondary education or have a university degree, compared to only 18% of those who do not have these studies. However, due to the distribution of the level of education in Mexico, 49.6% of the total number of early-stage entrepreneurs has not finished secondary school. With this series of data, we can see that entrepreneurship is a great option to combat the unemployment of young university students in Mexico, fomenting the entrepreneurial culture from Higher Education Institutions.
