Tribology - From idea to the strategical conception of the contemporary engineering

The paper analyses the intensive development of the newly founded multi-scientific discipline called tribology, whose application in industry leads to the reduction of losses resulting from the frictional complex, friction, wear and lubrication. Due to its economic profitability, this concept has a strategical character and therefore it is recommended that it be more rapidly utilised in our country.
