Ore Textures and Isotope Signatures of the Peridiapiric Carbonate-Hosted Pb-Zn deposit of Bougrine, Tunisia

摘要
The Bougrine zinc-lead deposit in northern Tunisia (5.5 Mt @ 12% Zn + 2.5% Pb) is in Upper Cretaceous peridiapiric laminated limestone. The mineralogy is simple and includes very fine-grained, finely banded collomorphic sphalerite, coarse-grained galena, marcasite/pyrite, and minor calcite. The ores are of epigenetic origin and occur as carbonate replacement and as open-space fillings controlled by porosity and fractures. Ore formation was probably during Miocene times from basinal brines interacting with H2S from thermochemical sulfate reduction of Triassic gypsum in the presence of hydrocarbons.
