摘要
The diffusivity and solubility of water at 1200 degrees C has been measured in several alkali-alkaline earth silicate melts. The diffusivity of water in these melts increases as CaO is replaced by SrO or BaO and decreases when Na2O is replaced by K2O. The diffusivity of water in these melts exhibits an inverse relationship with the viscosity of the melt, which can be extended to include the binary alkali silicate and soda-lime-silica melts. The solubility of water in these melts increases as CaO is replaced by either SrO or BaO and as Na2O is replaced by K2O. Water solubility is related to the basicity of the melt, as indicated by the ratio A(2800)/A(3500). As expected from prior studies, the glass transformation temperature of these glasses decreases with increasing water concentration.
