摘要
Today, aside from the electronical media, the newspaper is still one of the most important means of information and advertisement. Newspapers and especially newspaper supplements are being printed in color, a continuous trend which has clearly increased in the last decade. In order to obtain the best optical characteristics, the paper surface must fulfil several requirements. Efforts to improve the different surface treatments of newsprint have been experimented in the past. With the development of Filmpress technology, suddenly new ways of improving the surfaces of natural papers, especially newspapers, arose. The application of coating colours with low coatweights opens new possibilities for optimising the paper surfaces in the printing process. In newsprint, special requirements are given to the printing substrate. This applies foremost for pigmented papers which are printed in newspaper press. In the boundaries of newspaper development, we have concentrated ourselves on the interaction between cold set printing inks and treatment of paper surfaces during printing and further mail room processing.
