摘要
Blending is a useful tool to manipulate the properties of polymeric materials. Insite(TM) technology has enabled the production of ethylene/styrene interpolymers (ESI), typically containing up to about 50 mole % (similar to 80 wt%) styrene. Available thermodynamic models for copolymer/copolymer blends have been utilized to determine the criteria for miscibility between two ESI's differing in styrene content. Model estimations have been compared with practical observations based primarily on melt blended ESI/ESI systems, in particular via the analysis of Tg data from DSC and DMS. Some mechanical properties of the blends and blend components are discussed, including tensile stress/strain and tensile stress relaxation.
