Inhibition of carbonic-acid corrosion of the oil-extraction equipment in Belarus

Data of many years of industrial testing of the KRTs 3G inhibitor for the protection of stratal and sewage water lines in the oil collecting systems of Belarus are presented. This cathodic-type inhibitor proves to be effective against the uniform and local carbon-dioxide corrosion of the pipelines transporting medium- and highly mineralized water with low, medium, and high CO2 concentrations, even in the presence of H2S. This inhibitor compares well with the mixed-type nitrogen-containing SNPKh-6301 inhibitor. The effectiveness of KRTs-3G was proven by the exposure of clean control samples, an increase in the lifetime of the pipelines, and an abrupt decrease in the total number of failed pipes with corrosion products and salts on the surface.
