摘要
Alarmed at the planned wedding of the king of Germania Henry III with Agnes du Poitou, a distant relative of his, Abbot Sigefroid of Gorze carries out genealogical researches to support his anxieties. He addresses a letter to Abbot Poppon of Stavelot to ask him to intervene upon the sovereign to focus his attention on the dangers to which he exposes his kingdom and the whole world if he persists in his plan. Sigefroid provides evidence of the kinship of the future spouses by going back to their common ancestor. He takes advantage of this opportunity to denounce how Germanic society is going adrift. He addresses another letter to Toul's bishop Brunon to ask him to support him in this proceeding hostile to the king.
