A STUDY AND CHARACTERIZATION OF THE SYRO-MALABAR SCRIPT

The purpose of the paper is to describe the Kerala type of writing as one of the Syriac scripts in the Syriac Oriental branch. It describes the characterization of the dual's. Already found in sixteenth century manuscripts, when an influence of Latin Portuguese style of writing is probable, this kind of script developed in the nineteenth century, mainly as a result of the isolation of the Syro-Malabar communities with regard to the mainstream Syriac tradition.
