摘要
WebComputing is an approach to parallel computing that. uses Java applets to automatically distribute a computation across the Internet. Because of the latency and bandwidth limitations of the Internet, communication efficiency is one of the primary challenges facing WebComputing. A WebComputing system designer must make informed decisions in selecting communication protocols from ihe available packages. Here, we report a performance evaluation of UDP, TCP, and RMI protocols based on Java networking packages provided by Java Development Kit (JDK) from Sun Microsystems, Inc..
