摘要：
This article provides a brief overview of the developments in discrete dislocation plasticity, with emphasis on solving boundary-value problems. It reviews the superposition technique that was proposed in 1995 and presents a number of applications of two-dimensional simulations that give new insights. One class of applications relates to fracture problems, and highlight the dual role that dislocations can play in the fracture of materials with limited plasticity. The second group of simulations is used to help the development of nonlocal continuum crystal plasticity theories.
