Knowledge management for multimedia systems design - Toward intelligent web-based collaboration

Multimedia systems design generally requires a collaborative effort from a group of designers with a variety of backgrounds, such as content experts, instructional designers, media specialists, users, and so forth. However, the fact that the designers have totally different backgrounds and tasks hinders their collaborative design process. In this paper, we present a collaborative design environment in which designers can share their design knowledge (ideas and decisions) freely. To implement the collaborative environment, we developed three intelligent agents on the Web. Two evaluation studies show the usability of the environment for multimedia systems design.
