摘要
The role of community health workers (CHW) in promoting the results of public health actions have been recognized worldwide. This work describes the development stage of a CHW's mobile application that is part of a public healthcare system called PRONTO (means READY in English). The system development started in 2011 and in the middle of 2012 the first health facility was operational. Since then 38 geographically distributed healthcare units were deployed achieving about one third of the municipality health network. The first version of the CHW module was developed to be used in an old cell phone based on Symbian and was based on java J2ME technology. The second version of the app was developed to android based devices and was written in java. The third version of the app was developed using GeneXus to Smart Devices technology and is addressed to both Android and iOS platforms. This paper discusses about the use of this technology and shows the advantages in adopting it.
