摘要
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women and is also one of the most common types of cancer. Generally, mammography is a medical modality that is being employed for the detection and treatment planning of breast cancer. In view of limitations being posed by modalities like MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and mammography, photoacoustic imaging is being investigated and employed for an effective depiction of malignant tissues with increased specificity. It is often helpful to fuse PA (photoacoustic) with US (ultrasound) images which can reveal the morphology of tissues at depths of up-to tens of centimetre. The echogenicity-based contrast and varying mechanical properties of tissues enable the depiction of general structural information that is generally unavailable with PA imaging. In order to compensate for several issues like noise and artefacts several approaches like image super-resolution could be targeted in order to compensate for the lower visual perception of the results.
