Structure and solid state property of fullerene nanowhiskers

摘要
The crystal structure and molecular dynamics of as-grown C-60 nanowhiskers were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction and C-13-CP/MAS NMR techniques. It was found that two types of crystals with different morphology of as-grown C-60 NWs have the same hexagonal structure (space group: P6(3)) with lattice constants of a=23.732 angstrom and c=10.126 angstrom at 297 K. No evidence of covalent bonds between C-60 molecules was confirmed by C-13-CP/MAS NMR. It was found that C-13-CP/MAS NMR measurement clearly shows that m-xylene molecules are contained in C-60 nanowhiskers.
