摘要
The major problems faced by Indian power sectors are inadequate power generation, lack of optimum utilization of existing generation capacity, lack of grid discipline, inadequate and ageing distribution network which leads to power cuts, local failure, poor voltage regulation, low or high frequency. The problems occurred in distribution systems are mainly due to large scale theft, inefficient use of electricity by end user. The distribution losses are nearly 35-42%. The technical losses which occurred in distribution system are due to ill maintenance of equipments, overloading of transformer, conductors, and insufficient reactive power compensation. The importance of demand side management is for the improvement of existing power distribution systems, increasing efficiency and provides good quality power to the end user. This paper insights a proto type AMI based Demand Side Management model for residential end user using smart metering for collection of data and implementation of peak load reduction strategies for home demand side management (DSM). The model comprises the grid connected system with photovoltaic and energy storage system for power backup. At the time of peak load curtailment from utility side, this module ensures the continuity of power supply to the end user.
