Thermal decomposition and kinetic parameters of cobalt-cyanoferrates

Studies on the thermal decomposition of cobalt-hexacyanoferrate(II), cobalt-hexacyanoferrate(III) and cobalt-nitrosopentacyanoferrate(II) have been carried out by the thermogravimetric method. The non-isothermal decomposition of the compounds has been carried out at a uniform heating rate of 10 K min(-1), in air and the simultaneous differential thermogravimetric analysis and the thermogravimetric curves have been recorded. The thermal decomposition of the compounds occurs mainly in two steps. The intermediates formed during decomposition usually undergo further decomposition over a considerable range of temperature. Kinetic parameters, viz., energy of activation have been determined by using four different methods.
