Objective: To explore the combination law of the disease locations and features of angina pectoris due to coronary heart disease under the guidance of syndrome differentiation system of five zang-organs. Methods: Medical records of angina pectoris were retrospectively processed with the "heart syndrome questionnaire" which was made by this team to standardize the symptoms, and then the disease locations and features were differentiated. Results: 417 medical records were analyzed. Disease locations involved heart, lung, spleen, liver, and kidney. Disease features involved qi-deficiency, blood deficiency, yang-deficiency, turbid phlegm, qi-stagnation, blood stasis, and cold. These disease locations and features formed 11 common syndromes, including syndromes of heart-qi deficiency, heart-yang deficiency, heart-blood stagnation, cold pathogen coagulated in the heart vessel, both qi and blood deficiency of the heart, yin deficiency of the heart and the kidney, yang deficiency of the heart and the kidney, blood deficiency of the heart and the liver, qi deficiency of the heart and the lung, both qi and yin deficiency of the heart and the lung and both qi and blood deficiency of the heart and the spleen. Among them, the syndrome of heart-blood stagnation had a proportion of 38.61%, which was the highest. Conclusions: The process of syndrome differentiation of angina pectoris was greatly simplified by using the syndrome differentiation system of five zangorgans. The idea of this research can be applied to other diseases to establish a new diseases and syndromes system further, thereby making contributions to the TCM education, clinic and research.
