摘要
This paper is aiming at the concept for the frontend design of a flexible platform running Software Radio as it is investigated in the SORBAS base station project. It briefly outlines the Software Radio idea and the motivation for a software defined radio base station. The global architecture of such a base station is described including system boundaries and restrictions given by the technology. Emphasis is laid on technology for multiband antennas, specific analogue issues (power amplifier linearisation) and processing issues for a digital front-end providing up- down conversion, channelisation, filtering etc.
