Strain localization in nano-crystalline iron processed by severe plastic deformation

摘要
In the present work technically pure iron was subjected to severe plastic deformation (SPD) by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) which brought about a significant refinement of microstructure. Characteristic non-homogeneous, banded structure was observed at micro- and macro-scale. Tensile tests of ECAP material were carried out using special micro-samples. The fracture surface observations reveal that failure mode depends on microstructure banding. Plastic deformation of the specimens has also been modelled by finite element method (FEM).
