Optimal delivery of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for moving target

摘要
In this paper we discuss the problem of optimal efficiency delivery of VMAT arc therapy for moving targets that takes into account limitations of gantry speed and acceleration. First we propose a solution for static target and then we expand our solution for the moving target. The problem is modeled into a grid. The maximum speed at each grid point (t, g), where t is time and g is gantry angle, is calculated using the target velocity, leaf speeds, and other constraints. The optimal delivery efficiency, i.e. shortest delivery time of VMAT arc therapy for moving targets is calculated using dynamic programming.
