摘要
Using mobile phonewhile doing another activity is a common example of dual-task activity that we often do just about anywhere. People tend to think that multitasking is an efficient and good way to increase productivity. In fact, previous studies showed that sharing-attention between tasks takes a serious toll on productivity. The aim of this paper is to review literatures on postural stability while using mobile phone. There were 125 papers reviewed and 38 papers met the inclusion criteria. The first part of this review provides a general background of the fatalities of distracted pedestrians caused by mobile phones. The second part discusses three models of dual-task performance that proposed by Lacour et al. (2008), due to the contradictory results between dual-task studies. The last part of this paper is a review of several different methods to evaluate postural stability. Postural stability can be measured by center of pressure (COP) displacement, multiscale entropy (MSE), and multivariate multiscale entropy (MMSE). In conclusion, studies of the effect of using mobile phone on postural stability are needed to be evaluated more, in order to reduce the fatalities that could happen from dual-tasking activity.
