摘要
In the first part, the article describes specific presumptions of psychotherapy: client's positive expectation and therapeutical relationship. Psychotherapy in chronic pain patients needs specific characteristics to be successful: higher step of tolerance of negative pacient attitude and higher motivation for pacing of activity, which is because of fear of pain often not possible. In treatment of chronic pain, it is common to use supportive, dynamic, family and group psychotherapy. Cognitive-behavibral techniques are typically incorporated as a part of comprehensive pain management approach, which can give to an individual a sense of control over pain, decrease negative emotions, thoughts and beliefs related to pain, decrease maladaptive behaviors and increase adaptive behaviors. This may reduce pain, suffering and disability. Education is an important aspect of cognitive-behavioral therapy, it is usually shared by psychologists, physicians and nurses. Topics of education in pain management are given, they can differentiate concerning each diagnose.
